Bright orange lips were all the rage during New York Fashion Week for Spring 2014. At the Rag & Bone Show, Makeup Artist and Revlon’s Global Artistic Director Gucci Westman started the trend by using a Revlon color inspired by … Continue reading
If there was one beauty brand I wish I could *afford to* purchase every single item from, it would be Tom Ford. I’ve been addicted to Tom Ford Beauty since my first purchase 9 months ago. The quality is amazing, … Continue reading
While attending The MakeUp Show in Chicago last summer everyone was raving about Make Up For Ever’s HD Foundation, so of course I had to check it out. I first purchased shade 173 but it was a tad too light, so Iwent back and got shade 177. When I mix the two I get the perfect shade.
It’s been a while since I’ve used these two shades together. For the last two months or so I’ve been mixing the HD 173 with my MAC Studio Fix Fluid in NC 50, but this morning I decided to go back to my HD. I can’t remember why I stopped using the two HD foundations, but today I will find out. I have oily skin so I’m hoping I don’t turn into an oil slick by 1:00. I posted a pic below and just looking at it, I think I need more coverage but that’s probably just the Studio Fix side of me.
I hope I fall in live with these two again…
On top of the foundation I used MAC’s Mineralize Skin Finish in Dark and on my lips is Tom Ford’s lipstick in Sable Smoke with NARS gloss Supervixxen.
For the last 10 years, I’ve been a MAC snob when it comes to lipsticks, I wouldn’t try or look at another brand because in my opinion MAC has the best colors. This all changed during a recent trip to SAKS. My mind was set on buying NARS blushes and shadows. While going through ridiculous amounts of NARS makeup, the wonderful sales associate suggested I buy something with my gift card that I wouldn’t normally buy for myself. She then led me to the Tom Ford counter and this wonderful lipstick, Sable Smoke (pictured above on the left). Now, this was my first time trying this product line and I WAS IN LOVE. This was the most moisturizing, creamy, smooth as silk lipstick I have ever applied to my lips. I was immediately sold. That was until I saw the color Wild Ginger (pictured above on the right). This color was to die for. I spent a good 20 minutes going back and forth between colors and eventually picked the Sable Smoke because it’s more “work appropriate” than the bright orange.
It’s one month later and I’m still loving the creamy texture of the Tom Ford lipstick in Sable Smoke and I usually pair it with the NARS gloss in SUPERVIXEN (purchased on the same day). I’m still dying to purchase the Wild Ginger lipstick and I think about it often *sighs*. It’s so hard to find the PERFECT orange and I have found it. Wild Ginger shall be mine soon!
If you’re interested in purchasing either of these lipsticks or seeing more of Tom Ford’s cosmetic line, they can be found at Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, and Saks Fifth Avenue. The lipsticks retail for $50 USD.
